Hardy Harlow runners defy sub-zero conditions to conquer the parkrun

Athletics / Tue 20th Dec 2022 at 04:00pm

A HARDY band of Harlow runners didn’t let a little bit of snow get in their way on Saturday morning.

Harlow parkrun and many many other 5k runs around the country were cancelled due to treacherous condtions.

However, the Westmill parkrun in Ware passed a late pitch inspection. The park run is set in the beautiful grounds of Three Lakes Campsite, Westmill Farm.

It may have been minus six degrees but that didn’t stop 135 hardy souls taking on the challenge.

Runners are often told to “enjoy the view” and many took time out of their runs to take photographs on a beautiful morning.

Nearly all the Harlow runners were members of either Harlow Running and Tri Club or Innovation Multisport.

As the temperature has risen, there are parkruns in Harlow on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Thank you to Tracey and Kelly for the pictures.

Was fabulous to run in a snowy park run for a first! Soft conditions and amazingly marshalled and photographed thanks to everyone that made it possible
