STREETS2HOMES opened its doors on Christmas Day to provide a Christmas dinner and festive celebrations for their clients who would of otherwise been on their own.
Nine individuals attended and had a wonderful couple of hours, where each individual received a gift and full Christmas dinner.
Without staf organising and cooking on the day with the help of three volunteers and supporters such as Astro Lighting for sponsoring the meal, individuals and other groups for their donations of festive foods and gifts this would not of been possible.
CEO Kerrie Eastman “It was such a shame to hear our friends at the Chocolate Run / Christmas Haven were not able to open this Christmas. But thankfully we were able to work with Harlow Council, local businesses, individuals and community groups to ensure those most vulnerable over the Christmas period had shelter, food, gifts and somewhere safe to go on Christmas Day.
“We are so grateful to evryone who donated and also to Cherie (S2H staff member) and the volunteers for giving up their time and working on Christmas day.
“We did not have much time for planning but thankfully it went well and everyone had a nice time.
December is a busy time for us and we would just like to let everyone who donated or supported us during this time know we really appreciate their support.
“We could not provide these sort of services without the support of the community”.
What a fantastic organisation: perversely it's unfortunate that it's necessary. They deserve every support.
