Hockey: Church Langley and Henry Moore share spoils in Harlow primary final

A FITTING end to a wonderful tournament saw the teams from Henry Moore 1 and Church Langley 1 share the title after the final finished 1-1.
From the 27 teams who started last week’s qualifiers, the 12 finalists returned to Church Langley Astro to compete for the final. The teams were divided into 2 groups of 6 and once again, the umpires (David Stacey, Gill Pardoe and Harry Stacey) presided over a large number of games.
Eventually after all 30 games were completed, the final between Henry Moore 1 and Church Langley 1 was an exciting affair. Both sets of players showed great skill and composure, with Church Langley opening the scoring with a well-worked goal from a defense-splitting long pass. The lead lasted barely a minute as Henry Moore 1 hit back immediately from the restart. Both teams pressed for the winner but eventually time was called and the teams agreed to share the title.

1st – Henry Moore 1 – 14 points
=2nd – Roydon 1 – 12 points
=2nd – Milwards 1 – 12 points
3rd – Roydon 2 – 9 points
4th – Little Parndon – 8 points
5th – Henry Moore 2 – 5 points
Group 2
1st – Church Langley 1 – 14 points
=2nd – Nazeing 1 – 12 points
=2nd – Church Langley 2 – 12 points
3rd – Hatfield Heath 1 – 8 points
=4th – Hatfield Heath 2 – 7 points
=4th – Henry Moore 3 – 7 points
