A NUMBER of Harlow teenagers have passed a Fire Break course at Harlow Fire Station.
The intense course, involves five days team building with Essex County Fire and Rescue (ECFRS), training in the same techniques as regular firefighters and using all equipment, tools and wearing firefighting uniform.
A trained firefighter mentors work with the young people to increase their personal development and transferrable skills through operational firefighting drills.
The young people, who have been working with Rainbow Services, took part in a “passing out” ceremony at the end of the five days, having achieved an AQA accredited qualification. Young people who excel on the course can be offered places with the Fire Cadets – we wait with anticipation to see!
At the passing out parade, they put them on display in front of family and friends.
Excellent work all. Engaging youngsters in something useful and a career taster as well.
Great work keep it going
