GABRIELLA Cowley from Harlow has become the first event winner within the highly anticipated 2023 Rose Ladies Series, supported by Europe’s leading golf retailer, American Golf.  This is Gabriella’s fifth Rose Ladies Series event win, the most any player has claimed in the tournament’s four-year history.

A member of the Hanbury Manor Golf Club, Gabriella, 27, took home a first prize sum of £10k, at West Lancashire Golf Club after she shot 2 under par to narrowly win by one stroke over Emma Allen in very difficult weather conditions.

The Rose Ladies Series was founded and funded by Justin Rose MBE, former number one, and Major champion along with his wife Kate Rose in 2020. Created with the intention of plugging the gaps that had been left from the cancelled Ladies European Tour tournaments, the prize money contributed by the Roses was matched by American Golf and Computacenter UK as title sponsors.

Now in its fourth year, The Rose Ladies Series has become an exciting fixture on the women’s professional circuit, providing an excellent opportunity for female pros and high-ranking amateurs to compete, hone and showcase their talent as the Ladies European Tour ramps up.

Gabriella, who turned pro in 2014 after representing Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup said: “This has been an amazing day and I can’t quite believe this is my fifth Rose Ladies Series win!

“I took up golf at 13 years old when my dad started to take me down to the range and never looked back.  The Rose Ladies Series is always such an enjoyable experience with all competitors being incredibly supportive of one another.  I’m so pleased to see the tournament continue to grow and will always be grateful to Justin and Kate for their unwavering commitment to the female game.”

Scott Taylor, Marketing Director, American Golf said: “We are delighted that Gabriella has become the 2023 Rose Ladies Series first event winner, and having this be her fifth Rose Ladies Series win overall is an incredible achievement.  As the title sponsor for the fourth year running, American Golf is proud to back this inspirational tournament which aligns perfectly with our own values.

“Promoting and supporting gender inclusivity within golf by providing additional opportunities for female golfers to showcase their talent is vital to breaking down player barriers and increasing player participation. The American Golf team wishes Gabriella all the very best for the rest of the season.”

The 2023 Rose Ladies Series includes four more events as follows: Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club (Thursday April 13th), Wentworth (East) (Thursday April 20th), Bearwood Lakes Golf Club (Tuesday April 25th) and The Grove (Tuesday May 2nd).  The Rose Ladies Open will also return to Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire 7th-9th September 2023.
