Green Party here for the long run says co-leader
Elections / Wed 19th Apr 2023 at 11:28am
IT is just eighteen months that the co-leader Jamie Gilbert put himself forward as a candidate in the Mark Hall by-election.
On that occasion, he polled 86 votes. In May 2022, there were ten Green Party candidates in Harlow with some polling over 300 votes.
This year they have a “full slate” of candidates
So are the Greens now here for the long haul? We caught up with Mr Gilbert in the heart of the Mark Hall ward
Great interview Jamie. Vote green, for local people, for local issues.
32 hours after the publication of this article the only comment is from a Green Party local election candidate. Shows how little interest there is in Harlow for the Greens.
I, for one, am pleased that there is an alternative to the two main parties who hurl insult at each other.
I think many many people are interested now, when they look around and see what destruction is happening to our town, and will be happening under the two main party's. 7 new villages around our boarders, a road going straight through our river stort valley. We were promised %43 per cent affordable housing, now the plans have changed, % 23 per cent will be delivered. With 5,000 on waiting list, here in Harlow. Council tax will go to Herts and Epping. All infrastructure will be built after housing is built, if at all, putting pressure on Harlow s services.. it speaks for it self. Housing repairs, short cuts being taken, or not done at all. People with disabilities in high rise flats, not exceptable. Roads a disgrace, which we pay for I may add. The lists go on and on. Neglected bus station s, that only need to be maintained. Services, cuts and cuts made over the years, to wages and people. No hospital. On and on the list goes. David forman, I am a green party candidate, but I speak first and foremost as a local person born here, and see this first hand . This government, these councils, and developers hell bent on destroying out lands, our trees, our wildlife up and down this country,,, for what,, for greed and profit, with no benefits to local people in these earers. People keep voting the same old party s again and again, with no changes what so ever. May be its time to give some one else a chance. We stand for local people for local issues, treating our green belt with the respect she deserves.
Green Party have nothing to offer if we look at the mess the Greens have made of Brighton Council. The former Labour council leader Warren Morgan said this March: "One of my biggest frustrations, when I was council leader, was the delaying tactics used by the Greens on really important work, like building new affordable homes and creating local jobs". He added the Green administration had "failed on so many issues”, including cutting lifeguards, closing public toilets and neglecting the condition of the city’s roads.
