Ward by Ward: Will Netteswell be elementary for Watson?

Elections / Tue 25th Apr 2023 at 02:56pm

IN 2021, Labour had a really bad night here (as elsewhere) when the Tories gained the seat with a majority of 177. Sure enough, a year later, Labour re-gained it with a majority of 166.

This year, Nancy Watson is defending the seat. Nancy is very similar to her neighbour in Bush Fair, Jodi Dunne. She only speaks when she has something to say. We were drafting this piece at a planning committee meeting, when sure enough, Nancy spoke on an application in Arkwrights.

For many in Netteswell, the issues in their lives will be the cost of living, housing and of course, those potholes.

They will probably be the same issues when the General Election comes around next year, so all the parties, esp Labour and Conservative will have an eye on percentage share of votes here.

We don’t think the Tories are campaigning here and may well be looking at damage limitation.

The Greens will be looking at improving on 168 votes. Again, we believe they are concentrating their efforts elsewhere, so a vote close to 200 would be a win.

Is there a journalistic equivalent of the Razzies for excruciatingly bad puns in headlines?
