TO mark the Coronation of King Charles III, the school council from Fawbert & Barnard’s Infant’s School in Sawbridgeworth buried a time capsule at nearby new homes development Sawbridge Park. This included photographs, artwork and letters to future residents and current stories to see how much life will have changed when the capsule is dug up in half a centuries time.

Aided by local housebuilder David Wilson Homes who helped dig the hole, the time capsule is located on the site’s grounds at the housebuilder’s Sawbridge Park development and will be opened in 50 years to mark both the history of the development and the King’s Coronation.

Mr Lee Wells, Headteacher of Fawbert & Barnard’s Infants School, commented: “It has been a fabulous term here at the school both celebrating and collecting items for the King’s Coronation and the children have been in very high spirits! It really feels like this is a momentous moment in the children’s lives here, and we are grateful we were given the opportunity to bury a part of history in our local area. The time capsule will connect these pupils together and we thank David Wilson North Thames for its help with the burial to mark such a historic event.”
