ON Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th June Parndon Mill Hub of Creativity (our local arts charity) received some much-needed TLC from the IT team of Raytheon.
The Grade II listed stable building, which houses artists studios and The Project Space, was in desperate need of a re-paint.
Twenty members of Raytheon staff were equipped with scrapers and sandpaper and the many hands set to scraping and sanding walls, doors and windows and adjoining gates.
Then supplied with paint, kindly donated by JDC Paints of Harlow, they completed the total refresh by the end of day two which included the handrails of two bridges.
Sue Lee, wife of Parndon Mill Project manager Roger Lee, took the opportunity to thank Raytheon staff for their companies part in her life and education in Harlow.
Her father, who’s business was lost to compulsory purchase, was employed by Cossor Electronics, (now Raytheon) back in the 1950’s, which brought her family to Harlow with a corporation house and a secure future.
The Raytheon team have identified other areas in need of TLC and have begun restoration on the raised walkway over the weir at Parndon Mill.
Huge thanks to all at Raytheon and JDC Paints, not forgetting the kind technician who fixed Roger Lee’s PC whilst they were there!
