HARLOW Running and Tri Club competed in the 4th and final race of the Scott’s Travel Midweek Road Race League, Div 2, last week over a very hilly 10k trail course at Trent Park.

The team finished in 5th place out of 6 teams on the night and and remain in 5th place after the last race which means relegation to division 3 for next year.

In the Women’s race Sandi Rust finished in 22nd place out of 103 finishers and 2nd Female Vet 55 in a superb 47min 20sec. She was followed by Kerry Mavris in 38th place in 50.17, Louise Cootes 39th in 50.37 and Tracy Stratford 43rd in 51.08.

In the Men’s race Rob Lowe finished in 12th place out of 158 finishers and 1st Male Vet 50 in an excellent 35.53. Kirk Crudgington was 28th in 38.46, Martyn Coulter 32nd in 38.56 and Martin Westley 33rd in 38.57.

Meanwhile, at the weekends Ware 10 Mile race Lee Webber finished in 16th place out 220 finishers in 1.09.56. He was followed home by Matthew Spires in 33rd place in 1.15.04, Chris Mella 52nd in 1.17.32 in his debut at the distance and Chriss Arnell 61st in 1.18.18.

First Female for HRTC was Linda Helm-Manley in 86th place and 2nd Female Vet 55 in a PB time of 1.22.26. Not far behind were Kelly Spires in 128th place in 1.30.12(PB) and Emma Luck 133rd in 1.31.14 in her debut at the distance. Those three combined to finish as the 3rd placed Women’s team.

In the Ware 10k race John Bull finished in 45th place out of 210 finishers in 49.51, Dionne Jones was 79th in 54.54, Deborah Pomphret 93rd and 2nd Female Vet 55 in 56.13, Julie Ireland 153rd in 1.03.58, Michael Gleeson 156th in 1.05.15, Alan Godbold 159th in 1.05.15, Teresa Stickland 174th in 1.08.00 and Karen Greenall 175th in 1.08.03.

The Orion Forest Five, 2nd race in a series of 3, is a 5 mile trail race in Epping Forest at Chingford. Martyn Coulter finished in 6th place out of 107 finishers in 32.10, Martin Westley was 7th in 32.11, Louise Cootes 65th in 43.09 and Liz Roberts 80th in 47.18.

At the Chiltern Ridge Trail Half Marathon Phil Middleton finished in 66th place out of 204 finishers in 2.09.43.

The Gosfield Lake Triathlon, near Braintree, consists of many different distances.

In the Standard Triathlon (1500m Lake Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run) Richard Thornton finished in 17th place out of 86 finishers in an excellent 2.33.43, Gail Nicholls was 44th and 2nd Female Vet 40+ in 2.53.37, this was a PB and a new Female Vet 55 Club Record by over 10min and Kerry Mavris was 64th in 3.10.45.

In the Sprint Triathlon (750m lake swim, 20km bike, 5km run) Alan Knightley finished in 6th place out of 91 finishers and 1st Male Vet 40 in 1.11.41, Ben Usher was 24th in 1.22.14, a new Men’s Vet 35 Club Record, Terri Wiley 28th in 1.24.35, Chris Donnelly 29th in 1.25.19, Jamie Olsen Ferreira 35th in 1.29.31(Debut) and Michelle Sheridan 52nd in 1.37.54.

In the Aquabike (1500m Lake Swim, 40K Bike) Jon Waight finished in 4th place out of 22 finishers in 1.47.24 and Brady Ramsey was 6th and 1st Female in 1.53.22.

Catherine Ridge created a new 5k Female Vet 40 Club Record at Storeys Field parkrun, finishing in 40th place out 0f 313 finishers in a fantastic 20.39.

There were parkrun PBs from Nigel Barton at Harlow parkrun, finishing in 159th place out of 206 finishers in 35.07 and from Sue Reilly at Gunpowder parkrun at Waltham Abbey, finishing in 77th place out of 142 finishers in 30.24.

At the Bournemouth Pier to Pier Swim (1.4 Miles) Emma Luck finished in 57.30.
