Harlow and Gilston Garden Town finalist for top Housing Award

HARLOW & Gilston Garden Town has been announced as a finalist at the 2023 Essex Housing Awards.
Having collaborated with Rainbow Services Harlow, Stantec, Quality of Life Foundation and Harlow residents, HGGT’s Your Quality of Life project is in the Digital Impact category shortlist.
It’s the Garden Town’s second time at the Essex Housing Awards having won the Building Garden Communities category with their Transport Strategy for the local area last year.
This year’s Awards Ceremony will be taking place in Chelmsford on Thursday 2 November 2023.
Funded by the Dept for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities, Your Quality of Life asked residents to comment on their local area via an online Commonplace map over 12-weeks last summer.
All views were collated by HGGT’s five council partners, Quality of Life Foundation and Stantec with the subsequent Community Feedback Report highlighting green space preservation and better public transport as key priorities for people living in Harlow and across the local area.
HGGT also published a follow up report, Reflections and Recommendations, which explains how the resident feedback will go towards shaping future HGGT plans, consultation and engagement while working collaboratively with local communities.

The survey was a smoke screen to mask the fact that the Hggt pfp Gilston estate will only degrade the quality of life in Harlow and destroy the ecology and tranquility of our natural nature reserve The River Stort Valley, throw flood water into Harlow homes, increase sewage overflows and by the eastern raised culverted road from Pye Corner to River Way create traffic gridlock and pollute the air. The only place for a survey asking what we value in the sure knowledge that the estate will destroy it is the shredder. A few donated cargo bikes fools no one. We need free frequent hydrogen buses, a joined up safe and comprehensive cycle way system in place now independently of hggt pfp. This Award is the property developers and their friends patting themselves on the back in a bid to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. Meanwhile the same cabal trumpet a new hospital for Harlow whist actually moving it completely out of town into Epping and overloading the town centre by cramming thousands of new residents into hi rise rabbit hutch flats. Follow the money.

Nosradamus, I was ready to say all what you have said... Well said.. QUALITY OF LIFE. Don't make me laugh...when all you lot are doing is taking that away from the people....
