THE LABOUR parliamentary candidate for Harlow has continued to press for a full inquiry into the circumstances behind the closure of Sir Frederick Gibberd College.

Mr Vince has told YH that first and foremost his thoughts are with the pupils, staff and parents at the Tendring Road school.

However, as you may see from the interview below, Mr Vince is demanding full transparency over what has happened.

Chris Vince is absolutely correct to call for a full independent enquiry into this fiasco. One of many issues is why a contractor was chosen who was not a member of the modular construction trade association? Also, Vince's call for an enquiry are echoed by the Anglia Ruskin University professor of Sustainable Construction Management, Dr Saul Humphrey. Dr Humphrey's experience spans various senior roles in the construction sector. He was previously MD of Morgan Sindall (East) and prior to that he led R G Carter Construction’s activities in the East of England. See Humphrey's profile at https://www.iod.com/locations/east-of-england/norfolk/news/iod-appoints-saul-humphrey-as-norfolk-chair/

The enquiry should examine the probity of the contractors the Government chooses. Caledonian Modular went into administration last year and made all its employees redundant, but failed to provide the statutory consultation under employment law.
