YEAR 10 pupils from St Mark’s enjoyed a day out at the Herts and West Essex NHS Careers Fair held at the Fielder Centre in Hatfield.
The Careers Fair showcased a wide range of clinical and non-clinical career opportunities in primary care.
The aim was to promote pupils’ interest in a career within the Health & Social Care sector.
Career stalls included:
Mr Osei, who organises the Careers Department at St Mark’s said: “It’s a great opportunity for our pupils to hear from medical professionals on the frontline about their challenging but rewarding careers. We want to continue the tradition of encouraging pupils from St Mark’s to enter the medical profession.”
Miss May, Head of Social Sciences said: “It was really interesting to hear from the practising GP about his 20-year career in the NHS. He waxed lyrical about the institution when explaining to our pupils what a great place it is to work. I suspect this event will spark even greater interest from our pupils in the Science subjects that we offer in our Sixth Form.”
Year 10 pupil Ryan Attewell enjoyed his day at the Fielder Centre: “It made a nice change to get outside of school and hear about different jobs in the health industry. I was interested in what the pharmacist had to say about being a decision-maker with regards to the legal drugs selected to be used in the Essex NHS service.”
