Review: Queenz conquer the Harlow Playhouse in a dazzling night at the theatre

ACTS at the Harlow Playhouse often get a rapturous reception at the end of the show.
We have been lucky enough to have been reviewing acts there for Your Harlow for over ten years and have never witnessed such a thunderous standing ovation as Queenz received on Thursday night.
Queenz are described as a live vocal drag extravaganza but that doesn’t really do it justice.
The show is so richly entertaining but also life affirming.
For a start the five members really can sing and the range is just astonishing.
From Spice Girls to Beyonce, from Chicago to Cher, every single number is sung so well.
What they also do is put their own mark on each number they do.
What they also have in bucketloads is comedy and wit.
The relationship with the audience was great. They were greatly helped by audience members at the front (Hello Michelle from Dorringtons) but it was that acerbic Lily Savage/Dame Edna mickey-take that is very sharp, engaging and funny.
The costumes, the lighting, the choreography was all excellent. The comic timing was perfect (great gaffer tape gag).
But it felt so much more than about LGBT etc; so much more than rights and equality. It was about what binds us and the potential for kindness we all have.
These were five wonderful performers who also had kind hearts and warm personalities who have produced a great show that is really going places.
With reports that they are set to play the Dominion on Tottenham Court Road, this act may soon outgrow 300 seaters like the Harlow Playhouse but if it does, then it will live long in the memory of all who were there. On their feet and with their hands in the air.
Queenz were kings of all they surveyed and we thank them for that experience.
Excellent review of an extraordinary evening of unadulterated entertainment!
Omg omg omg, this was life, I cannot express how much I loved this show, as a member of the LNGBTQZ+ community, it was just so amazing to witness, it was on point and so funny, I’ve been just getting into drag myself recently and after this, do you think I’m gonna give up on my dreams, hellllll no! If this ran every night I’d go, love it guys, I was in the front row 🙌
