HARLOWBURY Primary School played host to a group of teachers from Slovenia last week.
Charlotte Booth organised the teachers to visit Harlowbury and a school in Colchester to look at the education in the Uk. Charlotte role is Director, lead consultant, principal teacher of Booth’s Education Services and Tutoring.
The visit was part of a long-term project where Slovenian colleagues are embarking on an investigation of strategies for teaching, learning and assessment.
“It was a true joy and inspiration to spend the day in Harlowbury. The children of Harlowbury exemplified engagement in learning, demonstrating how they have been empowered to take responsibility for their own progress.” said Charlotte.
The teachers spent the day visiting classrooms, reading with Ozzie our therapy dog, talking to school council and joined us in our celebration assembly.
The Harlowbury staff and children loved a chance to talk to visitors from a different school and share ideas.
“Harlowbury team works for every single child in the school. Specialist teaching for speech and language is exemplary and children who have benefited from the additional provision speak positively about the impact of this on their confidence and capacity.” Said Charlotte.
Mateja Persolja reported back how valuable the project is for her and her colleagues ” as always we leave full of enthusiasm and ideas for our own schools”.
Harlowbury staff are now hoping for a reciprocal visit!
