RAIL passengers are being urged to check their route before they travel over the festive period due to timetable changes and major engineering works.
Planned essential engineering works and upgrades are being carried out on Greater Anglia lines between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Trains between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford and London will be heavily affected by major engineering work.
Services between Cambridge, Audley End, Bishop’s Stortford and London will also be affected by work.
There will be a significant alterations to Greater Anglia services on the routes and bus replacement services involved for journeys between some stations.
Norwich to Cambridge and Ipswich to Cambridge services will also be affected by major engineering works in the Cambridge area on 27/28 December.
Jonathan Denby, head of corporate affairs at Greater Anglia, said: “Unfortunately, this will affect some people and we are sorry for that.”
He said the company was trying to get as much work as possible done in one go while working to keep disruption to a minimum.
Details on the full timetable can be found on the National Rail website., external
No surprise. Greater Anglia is constantly delayed with constant cancellations just like every other train provider. I think the Managing Director of this disgraceful company should instead give notice when the railway is operating normally instead. Doing that will save him many press releases.
