Harlow’s Double Triangle and Roisin Quinn collaborate on remix of ‘Running From Yourself’

HARLOW-based producer Double Triangle has joined forces with independent artist Roisin Quinn on a garage-inspired remix of Roisin’s track ‘Running From Yourself’.

Drawing on the UK garage sound, and taking influence from the Essex club scene of the 1990s and 2000s, Double Triangle’s re-imagining of the track compliments Roisin’s soulful voice, making this a contemporary garage banger to kick off spring/summer in style.

The song’s autobiographical lyrics and catchy melody, written by Roisin Quinn, draw on her own experiences of growing up in Harlow. Her sound has been described as “Charming…delicate and understated” by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, and Freshonthenet’s Steve Harris called her writing “Succinct and sharp…wry lines…straightforward honesty”. The artwork for the track takes inspiration from Quinn’s debut album, Concrete and Trees.

The two artists first met studying GCSE music together at Harlow’s Mark Hall School, bonding over a shared love of piano and Chopin. Their paths crossed again at Quinn’s gig in the Sir Frederick Gibberd Garden – the house and grounds of Harlow’s famed town planner, Sir Frederick Gibberd (the Jebediah Springfield of Harlow) – where the two first discussed working together.

Running From Yourself is the second remix released by Double Triangle, the versatile producer who has self-released five solo tracks including Rompler, Peony Blossom, Haberdashery, Brenda, Peacekeeper, and a remix of Madil Hardis’s Jolly Sailor Bold. His strong melodic underpinning blends genres and musical influences seamlessly, creating a distinctive sound to both dance and dream to.

The track is available on all the usual streaming channels.

Had the pleasure of meeting Sir Frederick Gibberd at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny.
