St Elizabeth’s staff set to take on Brighton and London Marathons

News / Thu 7th Mar 2024 at 11:09am

FIVE members of staff are taking on the brave challenge of running a marathon, all to raise money for St Elizabeth’s.

St Elizabeth’s have a total of 11 keen runners running in the Brighton and London Marathon, two of the UK’s most popular challenge events. Both races will see participants taking on the gruelling 26.2-mile challenge, in the hope they can finish in their desired time and hit their fundraising target.

Five of those runners are members of staff from a range of different teams at the charity. From payroll to children’s homes to school, they have all united to support each other and commit to taking on the challenge all with a shared goal!

Danny Long, Care Assistant in the charity’s Children’s Homes said “Training has been really hard, especially in the cold and rain. But it will all be worth it.” Danny has been seizure free himself since 1993 and has worked at St Elizabeth’s for nearly 23 years. This will be his sixth London Marathon!

Among the other runners are relatives and friends of St Elizabeth’s, including relatives of individual’s accessing the charity’s services.
