Become a Governor at Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Health / Fri 19th Apr 2024 at 10:11am

NOMINATIONS are now open for elections to the Council of Governors at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT).

EPUT provides community health, mental health and learning disability services to more than 3.2 million people, and governors play an important role in shaping how those services are developed.

Governors act as ambassadors for EPUT and represent the views of our local communities, providing the support and challenge of a critical friend to our Board of Directors.

There are three vacancies for public governor roles – two in west Essex and Hertfordshire, and one in north east Essex and Suffolk.

All members of the public living in these areas are invited to apply.

EPUT is holding information sessions throughout April at which anyone interested in applying can find out more about the role and hear from some of our current governors.  Sessions will take place via Microsoft Teams on the following dates. Members of the public who would like to attend should email [email protected] or call 0800 023 2059 to book a place.

Thursday 18 April, 1pm -2pm

Friday 19 April, 10am -11am

Monday 22 April, 1pm -2pm

Wednesday 24 April, 4pm -5pm

Friday 26 April, 1pm -2pm

Professor Sheila Salmon, EPUT Chair, said: “The role of a governor is crucial because it enables us to connect with our local communities and ensure the voices of members, patients and staff are heard, and that their views are represented in the decisions we make, the direction we take and the services we shape and develop.

“If you want to make a difference, why not consider becoming a public governor at EPUT?”

Nominations are open until 17 May. More information about the role and details on how to apply are available on the Trust’s website at eput.nhs.uk/governor-elections

All governors are volunteers and hold terms of office as set out in the Trust’s constitution. This is normally for a period of up to three years with a maximum of three terms of office.

For more information, email [email protected] or call 0800 023 2059. Anyone who is unable to make one of the information sessions can also make contact so that another session can be arranged or their questions answered.
