Slingo gameplay basics

At first glance, it’s easy to see where the Bingo element of Slingo comes in. The game involves a 5×5 grid just like the 75-ball Bingo format most popular in the US. And, of course, the aim is to mark off as many lines of numbers off as possible.

Unlike Bingo, in a Slingo game, the numbers are not given to players by a caller. Instead, they are randomly generated by a set of reels that sit below the number grid on the screen. Each reel corresponds to a horizontal line, which is where you’ll mark off the numbers that appear on each spin.

Players have a set number of spins in which to complete lines, with the ultimate goal being to mark off every number on the grid for a full house.

Extra Slingo symbols

As well as the numbers, the reels in Slingo feature some extra symbols – known as wilds – which hark back to Slots. Depending on what wild appears, players get different benefits or drawbacks. The most common wilds are:

  • Jokers – which allow players to mark off any number they choose in the matching column
  • Super Jokers – which are Jokers that players can use to mark off any number on the grid
  • Devils – which block the reel they appear on for that spin, denying the player a number
  • Free spins – which give players an additional spin on top of their set count, giving them an extra chance at completing lines

Not every Slingo game features all of these, and some of them have additional symbols of their own, but knowing these is a good starting point. And keep in mind that they’re not guaranteed to add to your gameplay, as their appearances are all based on chance.

Slingo varieties

Just like Bingo and other online casino games, you can find a wide variety of Slingo variations out there. Beyond just the classic Slingo version, there are plenty of newer takes on its gameplay formula that add twists of their own to the mix.

Branded versions of Slingo also feature popular TV shows such as Deal or No Deal, which combines the basic core of the game with elements of the show. Thanks to the innovation of online platforms, there are now Slingo varieties to suit many.
