Griffin Bowls Club to host Try Bowls Day on Bank Holiday Monday

Events / Sat 25th May 2024 at 04:44am

YOUR idea of bowls is probably the same as most people’s – just a group of older people pottering up and down the bowling green on a summer’s afternoon, and there is truly nothing more uplifting than being out on a bowling green on a sunny day!!

But visit The Griffin Bowls Club in Southern Way and you will find all ages from 9 to over 90, and all abilities playing the game. It can be played socially with friends if you want, and it can be as competitive as you’d like it to be. It can also be fiendishly frustrating and totally absorbing.

The Griffin Bowls Club is run by its members for its members, and is open to everyone who wishes to play bowls, make some new friends and participate in the life of the club.

Gentle exercise for both mind and body in a friendly and undemanding environment is the benefit for all, and highly competitive games up to and beyond County level is the aim and achievement for some.

We have a well-run and well-stocked, licenced bar, and organised, popular social events throughout the year.

Our clubhouse becomes our short-mat centre in the winter, and we have a thriving short- mat group.

SO!!! Why not come along to our Open Day on Monday 27th May, anytime between 11am and 4pm.

Come and meet our friendly, welcoming members and try this fascinating not-so-gentle art of bowls. All you need on the day are flat-soled shoes and enthusiasm.

The bar will be open and refreshments will be available all day.
