Essex Police execute number of drug busts in Harlow

Crime / Tue 30th Jul 2024 at 12:40pm

ONGOING work to stamp out drug dealing and cut crime in Harlow saw multiple arrests during coordinated strikes on nine addresses.

Officers from Harlow Community Policing Team, with the support of their Operation Raptor teams and Operational Support Group, entered the properties shortly after 6am this morning, Tuesday 30 July.

Seven of the warrants were executed at addresses located around and within The Stow, Harlow, as part of an initiative launched with partners to regenerate the area.

Two linked warrants were also executed in Chelmsford.

They were carried out as part of ongoing work to disrupt gang-related activity, including drug supply and associated violence.

Across the nine addresses, officers seized weapons including an extendable baton and a knife, multiple mobile phones, suspected Class A drugs, cannabis and a four-figure sum of cash.

From one address, officers further recovered a stolen motorcycle.

Eight men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of drugs or weapons offences and remain in custody for questioning.

The wider initiative, labelled Clear, Hold, Build, is a Home Office-backed scheme bringing together public services to tackle offending and address underlying issues affecting the community in The Stow and wider Harlow.

After the seizures and arrests, officers took to the streets around The Stow to carry out wider patrols and engage with the community.

Chief Inspector Paul Austin, Harlow district commander, said: “These warrants followed weeks of preparation and intelligence building, targeting addresses we know to be associated with ongoing issues impacting on the public in The Stow.

“They were carefully planned and coordinated, resulting in a good outcome for the team.
“The warrants also followed an extensive briefing with partners including Harlow Council, ensuring we work hand-in-hand with those who know this community and its most pressing issues which need to be tackled from the ground up.

“If you deal drugs in Harlow, you will be caught. We are grateful for the information we have received from the public and a lot of hard work has been going on in the background to pursue offenders.

“Drug dealing exploits vulnerable people and damages communities. It also fuels other forms of offending from shoplifting and anti-social behaviour to serious violence.

“If anyone suspects drug dealing is taking place in their local area, please report it to us or if you’d prefer to report anonymously, you can contact Crimestoppers. The more we know, the more we can do to keep communities safe from this type of offending.”

That's a fraction of them off the streets then. Good work from the boys and girls in blue. Now hunt down the rest of them

You still missed one who has been supplying for years 13 of which I know of & been getting away with it even though it's been reported several times. Do these people think we are really stupid to not see the regulars that come every week for their drugs on our estate. Go down to the same house not there for more than a couple of minutes then off they go. Wow can't be friends & they don't stay. In & out again. When they get a sniff of the police they go round to the roundabout & see their customers there. Put in a line up & I could pick them all out. The street smells of the stuff & you could get high just walking past.

Police was in our street as well at 6 am. Both addresses are very dozy since we moved here . A lot of very suspicious activities always. My house was burgled a while ago and I had suspicions that same people were involved.

Wow really!! work for the police!! who you trying to kid!! Not only does that not make sense as this particular house is very busy & I also know that recreational drugs in a very very small amounts are not worth going after. We are not talking giving a friend a little nugget or what ever you call it, this is lots of regulars every week. So don't tell me they work for the police & the police are ignoring it. They would have a good catch there. Customers even sit in their cars & wait for them to come home. Please don't insult my intelligence by saying the police ignore this house as that would not look at all good on the police. So here's a question for you, you must be doing the same as this house or you have read my comment & you are this house. One day this house will be having a very early call & they hopefully will be carted off & I will be the first to punch the air as we do not want these drugs on our street nor the awful smell. Just an easy way to make money......go get a proper job & a healthier way of life

If they are council tenants does that invalidate their tenancy. Hopefully if it does give the homes to decent hard working people. I know it’s just a drop in the ocean, well done
