Essex County Council congratulates A Level students on results

Education / Thu 15th Aug 2024 at 10:38am

STUDENTS across Essex have received their A-level, vocational and technical (level 3 qualifications) results today (Thursday 15 August).

Across Essex this year, thousands of young people have completed courses and sat exams at schools or academies, further education colleges, sixth form colleges and training providers.

On A-level results day, Essex County Council has praised learners across the county for their commitment to their studies.

Councillor Tony Ball, Cabinet Member for Education Excellence, Lifelong Learning and Employability, said: “I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to everyone who has picked up their A-level, vocational and technical results today.

“A lot of hard work and dedication goes into studying for these exams and I am pleased that students’ efforts have been rewarded. I wish them the best of luck for the future, whatever path they are now pursuing.

“I would also like to thank all our teaching and school staff from across Essex. Students’ results are also a testament to them.”

Roy Blatchford, Independent Chair of the Essex Education Taskforce, said: “The Essex Education Task Force would like to congratulate students across Essex for their hard work that has led to such positive results.

“We have been collaborating with teachers and schools since the pandemic to support students in achieving their very best and we are pleased to see they have received such benefits.

“The Task Force and its Essex Year of Numbers campaign is continuing to work alongside Essex schools to provide children and young people with an equal chance at success as they prepare to sit their exams in 2025.”

The National Careers Service (telephone 0800 100 900 or chat online, from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday or 10am to 5pm Saturdays and Bank holiday Monday) and school or college career advisers can provide information, advice and guidance to students about resits, qualification and subject choices, as well as apprenticeships, careers advice, and gap years.

For any questions students have about university admissions or higher education courses, they should contact the university or college directly. They can also contact UCAS (telephone 0371 468 0 468) for more information.

Until Monday 21 October, students can apply for a course using Clearing if they have missed out on an offer – or have declined their firm choice.

Any young people who are feeling worried about what to do next or overwhelmed by leaving school and starting university, are encouraged to find out about the local wellbeing support available.

If a student is not happy with their results in some subjects, they have the option to appeal their results or retake their exams in those subjects. Their school or college will be able to tell them about the process for both of these.
