Education: Secondary / Sun 22nd Sep 2024 at 08:44am

HARLOW MP Chris Vince rose on the floor of the House of Commons to ask a question on Sir Frederick Gibberd College.

Mr Vince said: “To ask the Secretary of State for Education, whether she has made an assessment of the potential impact of the unsuccessful module building project on students at Sir Frederick Gibberd school in Harlow.

Stepehn Morgan, The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Education replied: “The department has not completed a formal assessment of the impact of the Caledonian building works on pupils.

“However, the department is aware of the significant disruption for the school and pupils. The department continues to work closely with the trust and local authority to ensure all pupils at Sir Frederick Gibberd College receive an excellent education in a safe and secure environment”.

I can already tell there has been a sufficient impact on the student’s learning and the quality of education they are receiving, as my son’s grades are already showing this impact.

So basically nothing has been done and the school bumped down the list because of a change of parliament. What a continued huge cost to tax players

I feel my daughter is feeling the after effects of all this craziness! Staff and Pupils can only show so much flexibility, adaptability and resilience before the cracks start to show! This is year 11 for my daughter and she absolutely NEEDS the best chance fir the future. The government has let her and her peers down, no question! I commend the head and staff team for all their efforts.

Mr Vince, I wouldn’t bother troubling the Education Secretary as I guess she is busy working out the guest list for her 41st birthday bash and more importantly who will sponsor it this year.

As stated she is very busy collecting "donations" anyone know how our MP voted at the pensioners cold weather payments? Has he also stopped crying and running away like he did at the local count?

You have to feel sorry for the pupils going to this school. Looking at the photo of the school entrance, it looks like a prison!! The old Passmores should have been fully refurbished, to give another 60 years service. Happy memories.

It was easy for the last government to cry salt tears and promise the school would be re-built, but they put no money aside to do it knowing they would lose the election and it would be somebody else's problem.

I know people who work there and its been really hard. My friend says the staff dont want to leave because they love the school and the headteacher. They all say they dont care about the building. They say as long as Mrs Conlan is there they wont leave and apparently all the staff say that. My neighbours kids go to the school and they love it to. One of them just started in september all we hear is Mrs Conlan this and Mrs Conlan that. I heard she is really strict but she cares so much and works really hard and is like a mum. Whatever this women is doing she should keep doing it. Lets hope she doesnt leave.
