HARLOW boxer Francis Wright won Gold at the Women’s Winter Boxing Cup in Leigh at the weekend.
Francis put in two massive performances over two days. Each fight consisted of three, three minute rounds.

Francis, who fights out of the Harlow Boxing Club, competes in the Under 54kg category.
Frances beat the very tricky Lehanna Smith of Track and Fitness by points in the semi final.
Many considered this to be the real final and Francis had her work cut out.
Under the watchful eye of coach Kevin Wootton, Francis learned from the semi.
Francis beat Faye McCormick of Hatton’s ABC in Stockport in the final, putting on a confident display. Using her strengths with a watchful jab and great movement.
Afterwards, we spoke to Francis.

She said: “I am delighted to bring back a medal for my club. I am still learning with every fight.
I would like to thanks my coach, my club and my family”
Francis, who is a teaching apprentice at Hare Street Primary, has already developed a reputation as a hard working, dedicated boxer who is here for th long haul.
She will soon be stepping up to the seniors where she knows she will be facing boxers with loads more experience but who knows what 2025 and beyond can bring for Francis.
