HARLOW athlete George Watkins signed off his 2024 season in fine style with an incredible 10k run at the weekend.

George, aged 14, who now competes for Woodford Green and Essex Ladies (WGEL), ran the Sutton Coldfield 10K in a phenomenal 32 minutes and 30 seconds.

The St Mark’s Year 10 student has hit a rich vein of form since moving from Harlow AC to Woodford Green.

He is now part of a high class middle distance group under the watchful and supportive eye of very good coaches.

George will now be looking forward to regional and national championships in the new year.

You get the feeling that George’s best distances may well be 5,000 metres plus.
