ON Tuesday 25th March theHoly Cross football team faced Jerounds in the semi finals of the brand new Stacey Pardoe cup in a game played at Passmores Academy.
Both teams played some really good football.
Holy Cross attacked with real confidence and scored some great goals. The game ended 9-2 with Blake scoring 4, Axel 2 and Barry, Diale and Hendrix scoring one, taking their total number of goals scored to 32 in only 3 games!
Jerounds scored two super goals, one was a lob and the other a free kick.
The sportsmanship shown by their players and staff were a real credit to their school. Ironically, we spoke to the editor of Your Harlow Michael Casey this week at our year 5 and 6 careers morning. He had played in this exact fixture in a semi-final for Holy Cross in 1973 when Jerounds ran out convincing winners (8-2).
Holy Cross now look forward to facing either Newhall or Freshwaters in a prestigious final that will be hosted at Hare Street school.
Thanks to headteacher Mr Coster for organising this competition.
Well done to the whole team for a top performance. Squad list below;
Joshua, Ciaran, Nayt, Kojo (C), Eryk, Caiden, Parker, Blake, Hendrix, Filip, Barry, Diale and Axel
