Harlow Labour councillors met with eco-friendly company Sybron

Business / Wed 7th May 2025 at 09:03am

HARLOW Labour councillors James Griggs and Jake Shepherd recently visited local family-owned business Sybron, a leading supplier of cleaning, hygiene and catering products to some of the largest names in hospitality.

The business, founded in 2003, has grown from strength to strength and has become a leading company within Harlow (and the industry as a whole) in terms of sustainability and a people-first approach to business.

Both Councillors sat down with George Mason, Sales and Marketing Director at Sybron to hear about the company’s journey in recent years and the ambitious programme underway to help customers better meet their environmental responsibilities. Back in November, Sybron launched a new range of biodegradable nitrile single use gloves whilst taking the determined step to discontinue its own non-biodegradable gloves.

Around a similar time last year, Sybron became the first UK distributor of commercial cleaning products to receive the world-renowned Ecocert certification. Recently Sybron welcomed its first fully Electric Vehicle (EV) into its fleet, paving the way for more sustainable deliveries free from any air pollution and emissions associated with conventional road haulage. Cllr Jake Shepherd, Shadow Portfolio for Environment and Sustainability, said: “The industry wide impression Sybron has made is truly remarkable. Thanks to the determination and strong values of this family-run business, Sybron is putting Harlow on the map in terms of sustainability and decarbonisation”.

Cllr James Griggs, Labour Group Leader said: “Sybron is a fantastic Harlow success story. A family business rooted in ethical and environmentally sustainable methodology”, adding, “it was a pleasure to meet George and other staff to discuss their progress and future-plans, including their new Sybio range of non-chemical cleaning products”.

Cllr Shepherd added, “I’m sure everyone in Harlow is proud of what the staff at Sybron have achieved”.

Hansard, the official record of Parliament for 7 September, 2021 states that Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves asked Rishi Sunak the following question about raising National Insurance: "Will the Chancellor of the Exchequer therefore explain why he is choosing a tax on jobs rather than on other forms of income?" Always good to see local politicians engaging with the local businesses, business not politicians are the most important thing in the UK.

Good research David, I wonder what starmers lapdog Chris Vince will have to say, no doubt he will tow the party line rather than stand up for the hard working residents of Harlow

Hey David Foreman, I am sure that the good scientists of Porton Down would have more integrity than to move to Harlow. They know that it would be a danger to the people here. There fore we would have to import new ones. Which would not happen for at least another twenty years.By that time the Glaxo building would have been eroded. So indeed it would be a better idea to repurpose the site. I recently took a trip around it and it looks nothing like the beautiful Ariel pictures of the past. But there is enough land for a fantastic new hospital. So it probably is another money wasting idea . Instead of wasting money on a defunct project it in my opinion (which has been ruined but still as valid).A better idea to put the money towards something more worthwhile. It has masses of spare land around it. In this area we could build lots of nursing living quarters or indeed am extension to our beloved serviced ,the fire station and a new police station so that we could all have our Harlow services together.. I think we need our NHS services .It is a very old but fantastic idea.Anf indeed what the tax payers, pay into.. We deserve this chance . We could even build a new scientific learning center there too. Which would appease Public Health England. And give our young scientists a room to grow there. This is my vision for Harlow. What do you think? I have lots of very good ideas. Some of which have already been used. Also we need the building that is opposite the Playhouse to be started. When I walked past there a few years ago and spoke to a few people. It was my impression that they were developing disabled flats there. And nothing seems to have been done there Either.. I am not having a go at Labour, indeed just trying to educate them. That in My thoughts which are vast. Our growing town.Needs to be a home for British People. Not just a new Yuppie village where the original people are forgotten about. We need the old internal roads.Espeicially near our little Pardon School to be sorted out. If that's what the school children have to put up with, they will have very low expectations and probably leave Harlow for some where more enticing when they grow older. As we have seen with alot of our professional people and workers. The lack of interest in the town probably reflects there pride in there surroundings. I got one as long as I breathe lol. Will never give up on my town,my home,my neighbours and friends. The caring society that see. Live in is what makes Harlow great. And even though I myself have been set up and wronged multiple times will not give up on it.
