VE Day 80: The widows of Harlow who lost their brave men in WW2
History / Wed 7th May 2025 at 06:57am
AS we publish some of the biographies of the 32 men of Harlow who died in World War Two, we were struck by the number of times, the final line referred to their widow never marrying again and living to quite an age.

We thought we would pay tribute to those women on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
We will never know of the heartbreak, the lonely nights, the dreams of children and a future that died on a foreign field, the times they looked at a photograph and shed a tear.
We just wanted to know that we are still thinking about them.
