THERE were a number of excellent performances by members of Innovation Multisport at the Saffron Walden Triathlon recently.
The event consists of a 400 metre swim, a 23 kilometre bike ride and then a 5k run.
Here is how some of the members got on and their reaction.
Andrew Kitson

Won 1st place in: Super Veteran in the Open.

Andrew said: “The main objective was getting around in one piece, having broken three bones in a bike crash last year, and the race went almost completely to plan.
Finishing fifth over all and first in the Super Veteran Open category was an added bonus.

“As the club’s senior coach, it was great to see all of our athletes perform excellently”.

Jon said: this is a hard course, undulating bike and some hard hills on the run. Very challenging course but was a good opener for the season ahead.

Overall it’s always a fun one and good start to the season. Though I could tell I haven’t been doing any running off the bike in training, got a stitch that kept me from pushing hard on the run. But it serves as a good performance benchmark for my main one this year (Dartford Bridge ).

Walden Tri was so much fun. It was a lovely morning and great event for a first Triathlon. Would definitely do it again!

This was my first triathlon and I was very nervous! I knew I could do the swim and then run but was worried about the bike and putting it all together.
“I really enjoyed it and can’t wait do more in the future. Bring on the next one!
