UK economy grew more than expected in first three months of year

THE UK’s economy grew by more than expected in the first three months of the year, according to the latest official figures reports the BBC.
The economy expanded by 0.7% in the January-to-March period, which was stronger than the 0.6% that analysts had forecast.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said growth was largely driven by the UK services sector, although production also “grew significantly”.

I wonder how much it will shrink by once the increase in NI and tariffs come into effect in the second quarter April-June that will be the real test

Rachel Reeves might crow about how our economy may have grown by 0.7% from January to March. But that is not thanks to anything she has done, that came about by the last Conservative budget, which was still in effect until this April. The real tests will come in the next quarter and then the quarter after that, when her disastrous budget takes effect, of which I’m absolutely dreading. Won’t have nothing to crow about then.

This is surprising I suspect it will be revised downwards later they normally are once the media have got the message they want out.

Theses figure s are from Jan to March, before tariffs, and more businesses shutting down. Hardly a pat on the back.

This is not growth. Inflation is higher than our growth which means we are just not getting poorer as fast as we were.

This is not growth. its a fudge with figures! True just check all the figures out that have been used to get to this magical growth figure and you will see that our economy shrank like the last 5 months!
