COUNCILLOR Andrew Johnson has been re-elected as Chair of the Council for an unprecedented fourth term at the Annual Council meeting on 15 May.

In addition to Councillor Johnson taking up the mantle once again, Councillor Sue Livings was re-elected as Vice Chair.

Each year, the Chair of the Council selects two local charities to support through fundraising activities. This year, Councillor Johnson has chosen Butterfly Effect Wellbeing and Mike’s Den. Butterfly Effect provides mental health services within a warm and supportive environment. Mike’s Den offers a meeting space for people aged 16 and over, encouraging equal opportunities and inclusive social activities for both disabled and non-disabled individuals.

At the meeting, the Chair announced he had raised a total of £12,000 over the past year. He presented cheques for £6,000 each to his previous chosen charities: Harlow Steelband and Rainbow Dementia Services.

Commenting on his re-election, Councillor Johnson said:

“I am delighted and deeply honoured to be re-elected as Chair of the Council for a record fourth term. I remain committed to being an enthusiastic ambassador for our great town, championing all it has to offer and the bright future that lies ahead.

“I’m also proud to support two outstanding local charities this year – Butterfly Effect Wellbeing and Mike’s Den – whose work promoting mental wellbeing, inclusion, and compassion makes a real difference to lives in Harlow. I look forward to raising as much support as possible for them.”

Andrew Johnson is a very knowledgeable Chair who ensures the smooth running of meetings. He is also fair minded and ensures that members of the public get to ask their questions.

Good choice, I would concur with David Forman.
