We will also be welcoming special guest Moira Jones who will be sharing her own memories of VE Day when she was living in Merseyside.

Drawing on Memories marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, offering visitors a chance to explore the period through a combination of artworks, historical objects, and community stories.

We are grateful to the team at Harlow Museum for their support and for contributing and curating specially selected objects from their collections. The exhibition also highlights the work of 11 artists who served as official war artists including Edward Bawden, Laura Knight, Henry Moore and Anthony Gross.

We now have special displays of artworks by children from Purford Green Primary and Longwood Primary. Children from Purford Green have created wonderful collages from three artworks by artists Kenneth Rowntree and Anthony Gross.
Teacher Georgia Say from Longwood, got in touch with 3 local care homes. Residents recorded their wartime memories and the children from Year 6 have beautifully brought these to life in a fabulous series of postcards. All are now available to view and read in the Gallery. Our thanks to all the teachers, children, staff and residents in Ashlyn, Abbots and Tye Green Care Homes for their help and support in these two school projects.
