HARLOW MP CHRIS Vince has reacted with anger at the news that Redstone House apartments were being advertised to be re-let.
Mr Vince had met with a number of residents who were left homeless after a prohibition notice was served for them to vacate building in the town centre.

He even helped some move.
So when we told Mr Vince that the apartments had been re-advertised, he issued the following statement.
Chris Vince said: “These allegations are shocking. Prioritising financial profit over the safety and well-being of tenants is unacceptable, and this case highlights exactly why we need urgent reform in the private rental sector.
I echo the words of the Leader of the Labour Group.

I will be writing to the Director of Criterion Capital to seek urgent clarification on the allegations raised.
This case only reinforces the urgent need for the Renters’ Rights Bill, which I have supported throughout its passage.
“If the House of Lords returns the bill to the Commons with amendments, I will continue to support it, and I will be raising this situation as a clear example of why stronger protections are long overdue.
“No one should be evicted from their home just so landlords can carry out basic repairs they should have done years ago and then double the rent.
“Tenants deserve dignity, security and decent living standards – not to be treated as collateral damage in a system driven by unchecked greed.”
Since issuing the statement, the adverts appear to have been removed from a number of letting platforms across the internet.
Your Honour the horse has already bolted. If I know Cllr James Grigg well enough he will be doing a good job at sorting the occupants out.But you could do something to stop the same situation up the road nearby happening again. It is my understanding that landlords have a duty of care. One which is often ignored. The only way we can prevent this happening to the new situation is to fine the landlords that are not keeping tenants in their rented abodes safely. Do you know only the council houses of old have the best rights for tenants.Perhaps it is time to relook at the way it is managed and make sure that ... 1- rents are capped. 2-accommodations are safe. 3-landlords are fined or lose renting status if their property is not safe. But as real life kicks in . People like Emma Barrick who has been fighting for these people. I know Emma she has really tried hard to publish this.Unfortunately, she was ignored. She is a shinning light in the gloom of peoples lives. One day we may live in a civilised country where people are not treated like excrement. Until then the good people of this world are sacrificing themselves.Take another example, the Parenthood debacle, which a young lady bless her has been trying to raise money to buy back a building that has been used as a community project.Well I will be at the charity bingo to help raise a little money. Thanks to the Novo lounge she can hold her venue there. And maybe just maybe one voice maybe heard. And there is live music, one band has been locally sourced which is what I love to see. Thankyou.hugsx While I am at it it is important to support your local pubs my local the Hare has a pensioners afternoon, quizs.Lets face it we all need to kick back and have a rest.
Good old Vince says "If the House of Lords returns the bill to the Commons with amendments, I will continue to support it." The obvious question is what if those amendments are not helpful to renters?
Just as I thought, the government have bottled introducting a Regulation.of Property Agents. This was recommended by a government working party chaired by Lord Best in 2019. This would make residential property agents subject to licensing and be regulated by an independent regulator. There was also to be a "fit and proper person" for company directors. Also, the widespread use of guarantors will not be challenged in the Bill. You can see the other watered down areas of the Renter's Rights Bill arising from House of Lords amendments that Chris Vince will foolishly support in the following article (see 7 key takeaways from the House of Lords committee stage): https://blog.goodlord.co/renters-rights-bill-a-letting-agents-guide
I sure hope he feels as strongly against the proposed cuts to PIP and other disability benefits as he does about this.
David the problem is that the people are employed generally on their ability to tow the line. Unless this abomination changes it will stay the same. Let's cut to the chase They even buy professional opinions. So when the time comes, they can try to mislead the public. So many smoke screens to avoid. No wonder people don't want to know anymore. One thing is for sure.It all comes out in the wash.
