Strict rules as GPs start to prescribe weight loss jab Mounjaro

PRESCRIPTIONS for Mounjaro jabs, to help people lose weight, will be available at GP surgeries in England from today – but only for those who meet very strict criteria reports the BBC.

NHS England says while the long-term plan is for the jabs to be more widely available, a staggered approach is needed to reach those most at need, manage GPs’ workload and NHS resources.
Some GP practices are already warning patients who do not meet the criteria that they should not book appointments to discuss the jabs right now.

Fantastic… so rather than exercise and eat healthy the tax payer can pay for fat unhealthy people to inject a drug that makes them skinny… what can possibly go wrong!
@Jamie you're so ignorant its unreal. Go do something useful for your community instead of spreading your toxicity.
All you are doing is making the pharmaceutical companies billions…. Rather than be fit and healthy buy our drug it’s easier… wake up
Jamie, people do not lose weight just because of these jabs, if they continue to eat burgers and chocolate it won't work. All it does is make the body feel full quicker and longer, therefore helping people lose weight quicker. It's probably cheaper in the long run too, than weight-related illnesses later on in life and the stress on the NHS.
Jamie, while on the face of it you have a point, there are not too many medical interventions you can't use it against. If you didn't play football you wouldn't have broken your leg, if you didn't drink you wouldn't have liver disease, if you didn't smoke you wouldn't have cancer and on and on. So be careful what you wish on others.
Jamie is right, when these jabs are given to anyone that's overweight, which will eventually happen . People will jab themselves until they are slim , then think they can stuff their faces again until they are overweight and start jabbing themselves again. This will be the situation for people with eating disorders.
Ted, the injections do not work unless adopt healthy lifestyle. They are not a wonder drug.
Jamie, as well as being obscenely fat, you also need to have at least FOUR comorbidities to get this drug from your doctor - So they are probably costing the NHS a bit already. I think as this isn’t a cheap generic, there is a chance that a few of them will sell it on ebay, so they can buy more stuff. Maybe they should have to go to a fat club to keep an eye on them or perhaps we should have them picking litter to help them get a bit of exercise.
Exactly Abbie. Maybe they need educating on how eating more calories than you burn will make you fat. Look at Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Philippines etc etc they eat little and often to burn calories. Plus I think the amount of junk food available in Harlow is ridiculous! How many McDonald’s do we have now? Full of fat parents with kids it’s child abuse
Some prescribed medications cause people to put on weight. And genetics can play a factor, too. Not all overweight people are stuffing their faces!
Mounjaro has been prescribed for me by a leading endocrinologist at Barts Hospital for Type 2 diabetes. For the those ignorant of its uses, this Diabetes UK info page tells you more about Mounjaro.

I’ve actually been on Mounjaro for a few months so want to explain to people the effects. I know you need to change your lifestyle as well as using this for long term benefit. One of the things I can say that I have never felt before is the feeling that I am not hungry. I would have big dinners, now they’re about a quarter of the size they were, plus I’m not snacking. I’m losing weight. No one knows how they will do once the weight is lost and keeping it off long term. Personally I’d like to think that getting down to the ideal weight would be enough of an incentive to not put it back on once medication stops. Previously nothing has worked for me losing weight
Jamie have you ever been to Thailand, Japan, Vietnam or the Philippines? Guess what, they have fat people too.
Yes I have Adam I’ve spent years in Thailand and Vietnam, Japan was only 3 weeks but a beautiful place with beautiful people. No one said they don’t have fat people!!! Do you understand percentages and per capita?
Loads of fat people in Japan.bloody sumo wrestlers. Most people are fat because they eat to much, simple, including myself. An apple or a mars bar.the Mars wins all day long.. We all know what to do but it's so hard to be disciplined.
