Popular historian David Devine makes his final journey from Harlow Museum

History / Thu 7th Aug 2025 at 02:58pm

POPULAR historian David Devine made his last journey past his beloved Harlow Museum as he was laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon.

His funeral cortege stopped at the Muskham Road museum and reversed in so that David could make his last journey from the grounds of the museum.

He was met there by staff members, past and present.

The cortege then made its way across to Parndon Wood Cemetery and Crematorium where family and friends paid their tributes and their respects to a much loved man.

David passed away on June 30th.

The family are now fund-raising for a commemorative bench for David in the grounds of the museum

We would just like to thank everyone that attended David's funeral and wake yesterday. It was a very special day, filled with tears and laughter. And great memories. Also we would like to thank everyone who has donated towards the bench so far it is much appreciated and have nearly reached half way. The gofundme page is still open for your kind donation's. Many thanks Clive & Mandy Devine
