ON what was a super Saturday in Harlow, we went along to the town park to enjoy Ghana in the Park.

Helen Verrier and the Ghana Union team have put in a huge effort over the years to forge an identity and sense of community in the town.

Ghana Union Harlow is dedicated to fostering unity, preserving Ghanaian cultural heritage, and promoting the welfare of Ghanaians living in Harlow, while facilitating their integration into the wider community and contributing positively to the cultural diversity of the region.

At the last census there were just under 900 Harlow residents who were born in Ghana. Add their Harlow-born children and that is a community estimated to be in excess of 3,000.

The music was great, the vibe was great and the food was outstanding.
