Harlow man pleads guilty to sexually assaulting a woman

A HARLOW man has been fined after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a woman.
Michael McConachie, aged 56, of Canons Brook, Harlow pled to the following at Chelmsford magistrates court.
On May 19th, 2025 at Chelmsford intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and you did not reasonably believe that she was consenting.
McConnachie was fined £200.00. He has bee required to undertake six months alcohol treatment.
He will be requited to register with the police for the next five years.

Six months in nick would have dried him out just as well as an alcohol treatment course in the community. Stuart G makes a good point.

Stuart, I'd love to see him deported also, but we haven't looked to other countries to host our home grown criminals. As for the Ethiopian national - He was sentenced for kiddy fiddling.

Ruth - not asking for the local man to be deported, I'm saying the local man should have got more than a £200 fine for sexually assaulting a woman - that just feels wrong. Also, the Ethiopian national did not get done for 'kiddy fiddling', they got done for inappropriately touching the leg of a minor. I am not in any way defending him at all - I'm glad justice has been served. I am, however, not happy with the £200 fine the dirty old local got. Not even a suspended sentence, referral order or even put on the offenders register - that's just wrong and makes it look like if you get hammered and touch someone up who doesn't want it, you can just blame the alcohol and basically get off scott free. It's wrong.
