St Clare Hospice Firewalk a blazing success, raising £8,000 for the charity

Charity / Tue 4th Nov 2025 at 09:29am

ON 16th October, the Firewalk made a successful return to St Clare Hospice, where 41 brave walkers took on the challenge to step across hot coals to raise vital funds for local hospice care.

The evening began with an inspiring training session led by Time 4 Change, preparing the group to take on the challenge of walking barefoot across fire. With cheers from the crowd and encouragement all around, one by one the walkers braved the fiery stretch of coals, receiving their certificates afterwards to mark the achievement. To add to the entertainment, supporters were treated to a thrilling fire performance and music from a live DJ.

Rosie Brewer, St Clare Hospice Event Relationship Fundraiser, shared her thanks to the community for making the evening so special: ‘It was incredible to witness 41 supporters take on the Firewalk with such courage and determination, all in support of St Clare Hospice. Watching each person step barefoot across red-hot embers glowing at around 600 degrees Fahrenheit was truly inspiring. Their bravery and commitment helped raise over £8,000, which will go directly towards providing specialist care.

We’re so grateful to every participant and spectator who came along to support the event, and to Time4Change for delivering such a powerful and unforgettable experience!’

Luke Culling of Chas Berger, the generous sponsor of the event, came along with his team, and said: ‘We’re proud to have sponsored the St Clare Hospice Firewalk, an event that brought people together for a truly unique challenge. At Chas Berger, we’re committed to supporting causes that make a real difference in our community, and the hospice does just that.

The Firewalk was a brilliant mix of challenge and camaraderie, and seeing our team step up with a mix of nervousness and enthusiasm was amazing. I’d wholeheartedly recommend people challenging themselves next year! It provides a mental and physical challenge, whilst raising vital funds for the amazing work St Clare Hospice does in the local area.

You won’t regret it – in fact, our team, along with several others, were so inspired that we wanted to take on the challenge again that very night!’

With limited NHS funding, events like the Firewalk play a vital role in helping St Clare Hospice continue providing round-the-clock care and support to local families facing life-limiting illness – all made possible by help of the community.
