THERE was excitement and joy all around for Harlow Gymnastics at the IGA National finals

Penny and Freya qualified for the event previously with their overall podium positions at the National Levels South. This was the first time for both gymnasts competing at this high level.

Freya S triumphed as the national champion on bars and 2nd overall in the level 5 trailblazers event, as well as placing 5th on both floor and vault, and 6th on beam. Freya nailed an impressive tuck back somersault on the beam and received compliments from coaches of other clubs for her Zorba the Greek floor routine.

Penelope-Blue finished in an amazing 3rd place overall in the level 7 skill seekers event, only 0.1 behind the overall silver medallist, after a strong performance where she placed 4th on bars, 5th on floor, 6th on beam and 8th on vault. Penny was one of the youngest competitors in her competition and showed maturity and confidence beyond her age and received compliments from the judges for her impressive bar routine.

Overall, a long and tiring but ultimately successful day for both gymnasts and their coach Kerrie Hodges.
