Communities / Wed 3rd Dec 2025 at 08:19am

THE Grieving Support Network Centre in Wych Elm was officially opened on Sunday afternoon with the ribbon cut by Bishop of Colchester Roger Morris and Chris Vince MP with an audience of councillors, friends of the centre, volunteers and service users.

The centre provides a new home for the Grieving Friends Support Network to continue their work of supporting the bereaved in a variety of settings. There are open spaces to encourage sharing conversations and quiet corners for more private moments.

The opening ceremony was hosted by PAH Chaplain Rev’d Dr Christian Okeke who was praised by a number of speakers for his vision in bringing the centre from a dream to a reality.

During the service of dedication emotional contributions were made by Sharon Evans and Joy Bedu, both of whom have found support from the organisation.

It concluded with a rousing and humorous address by Bishop Morris and was rounded off with a wonderful buffet enjoyed by the attendees.
