RACING is back on the all-weather at Chelmsford Racecourse on Saturday evening, with seven races for racegoers and punters to get stuck into.
Read on for a preview of and tips for the Chelmsford card, courtesy of BOYLE Sports, who provide all the latest horse racing odds.

We begin with an Amateur Jockeys’ handicap run over 10 furlongs (5.30). Charlie Clover’s Harlington seeks a hat-trick, having won over course and distance last time. He hasn’t been too heavily penalised in the weights as a result and remains competitive. Tony Carroll’s Annexation, though, is back down to his latest winning mark and – drawn well in stall one – could be the one to beat.
Next is a five-furlong handicap (6.00). Papa Don’t Preach is a fairly reliable candidate who is just one pound above his latest winning mark now, but Derek Shaw’s Buraback makes some appeal from stall four. He is given five pounds by his rider and is down to a new low mark, so could build on his good course form here.
Race three is a five-furlong class two handicap (6.30). Albasheer is the topweight by some way, which might not count him out over five furlongs. So, he could be the one to beat here, but returns from a year off the track. Accrual could be a good alternative option as he is a consistent sort who is usually in the prize money.
The fourth race is a handicap over six furlongs (7.00). Gay Kelleway’s King David is a safe pair of hands usually and could be his usual competitive self, but runs over a much sharper trip today. The Jack Dace-ridden Invincible Melody should be worth some attention, though, after a narrow defeat last time and enough proven speed for the drop back to six furlongs.
Following is a fillies’ maiden run over seven furlongs (7.30). Ollie Sangster’s Zoulette is the only newcomer, while the best form comes from Denver Doll, Welljudged and Bee My Honey. Denver Doll is the least exposed of these three and, representing a yard doing well, could be open to a fair amount of improvement on her second start.
The penultimate race is a seven-furlong handicap (8.00). Hint Of The Jungle and Sanditon won their latest starts, with the latter looking the most likely of the two to repeat the form. Homme De Fer, though, might only need a bit of luck to make the most of his run here, on the same mark as his last two goes by carrying three pounds fewer.
Our finale is a mile handicap (8.30). We could expect a good run from Volendam, who could place, while Kessaar Power could recapture some better form off today’s mark. David Simcock’s Charlatan is hard to look past in this low-level race, though, given his usual consistency and good latest performance at this track over seven furlongs.
