Boxing: Dan Gittens gets off floor to defend unbeaten record

Sport / Mon 23rd Feb 2026 at 10:08am

DAN Gittens has a world-title fight to look forward to after extending his unbeaten record in bareknuckle boxing’s trigon.

The Harlow fighter missed on travelling to the States to challenge welterweight champion Javon Wright last month – but was told he will get his shot in Manchester on May 16 after taking out Corey Healey inside two rounds.

Gittens risked his world-title shot against Healey – and it looked like his decision might backfire when the Welshman jumped in to drop him inside the opening 30 seconds.

Gittens was up quickly and the next time Healey crashed a punch off his chin, he laughed.

Gittens kept walking forwards and put Healey on his knees late in the opening round with a flurry of punches.

He had Healey down again in the second before he was forced out of the fight with a hand injury.
