Update 1.30pm: National Highways East says the M25 is now closed in both directions between J28 (Brentwood) and J27 (M11).

Because the collision may have affected a power line, immediate attendance is required by engineers to make the scene safe.

UK Power Networks engineers are on scene attending the exposed wires.

Update 11:45am: The M25 is currently closed anti-clockwise – J28 (Brentwood) and J27 (M11).

Our crews are currently on scene following a road traffic collision. During the collision, power cables were brought down.

Drivers are asked to remain in their vehicles while we deal with the incident.

Essex Police are also asking motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes – the road may be closed for some time.

We thank all motorists for their patience while we work with our colleagues Essex Police and National Highways East as we continue to work to make the scene safe.

AN Essex stretch of the M25 is currently closed whilst emergency services are dealing with an incident involving a lorry.

The #M25 is closed in BOTH directions just west of the junction with #A12. Junction 28.

It will be closed for some time, so please plan your journey to avoid the area.

Thank you for your cooperation.
