ESSEX Firefighters were called at 10.27am today to a fire at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel at Stansted Airport.

On arrival, crews confirmed a fire on the third floor of the building.

The hotel was evacuated as a precaution while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and make the scene safe.

Everyone was accounted for and there were no reports of injuries.

The fire was extinguished by 11.15am.

Crews remained on scene to ventilate the building using high-pressure fans to clear smoke.

An investigation will now take place to determine the cause of the fire.

Station Manager, Dan Byatt, said: “We worked very closely with Stansted Airport, Essex Police and other partner agencies to manage the incident and ensure flights were not missed.

“Thanks to the quick actions of crews and our partners, we were able to bring the fire under control quickly and ensure everyone remained safe.”
