GREATER Anglia has installed a new remote locking system for the waiting rooms at Stansted Mountfitchet and Harlow Mill stations to enhance customer security.
Previously, the waiting rooms were locked and unlocked manually, meaning access and security arrangements could vary depending on staff availability. The new system, installed in January, allows the rooms to be secured remotely, providing a more consistent and reliable approach.

The upgrade is also expected to help reduce anti-social behaviour, including trespassing and vandalism.
The £45,000 project has been delivered to improve both the safety and accessibility of waiting room facilities, particularly at times when staff are not on site.
Andrew Goodrum, Infrastructure and Major Projects Director, said:
“We know how important it is for customers to have safe, clean and welcoming waiting room facilities, especially at quieter times of the day.
“This upgrade gives us a more reliable way to manage and protect these spaces, and we hope it will improve the overall environment for everyone using the station.”
Hopefully it will now be open more often!
