HARLOW Synagogue hosted an interfaith event on the 25 November 2017. Rabbi Irit opened the service by inviting the chair of the Synagogue, Alan Cohen, to give a talk.
He welcomed MP Robert Halfon; vice chair of Harlow Council Maggie Hulcoop, and community groups to the event.
It was very much an interfaith event: MP Robert Halfon was invited to come up for the reading from the Torah in Hebrew, Maggie Hulcop, Adiyola Luqman from Harlow Islamic Centre, Neela Hibbert from Harlow Ethnic Minority Umbrella, Semira Sohrabian-Bailey from Stort Interfaith and a number of members of the Harlow Jewish Community read passages from a variety of faith traditions.
Mark Shakespeare from Stort Interfaith read one of his own poems.
Efua Sey Koi Rabi, preacher for the Methodist church was also among those who attended.
After participating in the blessings for the wine and the bread, guests were offered refreshments contributed by members of the Harlow Jewish Community.
