A DISQUALIFIED driver who provided false details when he was stopped by police on the M11 has been given a further ban from driving.

A silver Vauxhall Astra being driven by Sadik Miah was stopped by officers on the motorway near to the junction for Epping.

Officers had seen a man was driving the car even though the only person insured to drive it was a woman.

When he was spoken to Miah gave a false name which led the officers, who were not satisfied with his response, to arrest him on suspicion of driving without insurance.

Miah, 32, of The Downs, Harlow, then told the officers he had given his brother’s name and had done so because he was already banned from driving and did not have any insurance.

He was then de-arrested and instead reported for driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.

Further enquiries showed Miah had been given a 12 month disqualification from driving Chester Magistrates’ Court on 25 March.

At Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on 11 September he admitted the offences and was given a further 15 month driving ban, ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work, and told to pay £105 costs, and a £90 victim surcharge.

Acting Sergeant Paul Hills said: “Sadik Miah knew he was not allowed to be driving but still got behind the wheel anyway.

“With so many different ways to establish identity the chances are we will find out who you are and deal with you accordingly.

“Hopefully, this sends a message to those thinking of flouting the law by continuing to drive in contravention of a court result.”
