Upwards With Downs are learning their sounds!

SOUNDS Right Phonics Classes for Kids are excited to be bringing their sessions to the families who attend the Upwards With Downs group at the Treehouse Children’s Centre in Parnall Road, Harlow. The preschool sessions run by Isobel Ghadami, an experienced primary school teacher have been running for just over a year now and she was excited to be invited to add these sessions to her classes.

Upwards with Downs is a registered charity based in Harlow. They support adults and children with Down syndrome and their families. They run a session for children under 5 years of age and meet twice a month, on Thursdays during term time from 10-11.30am. As well as providing advice and support for families the sessions are a great opportunity to meet other parents and for the children to socialise, play and develop new skills.

Isobel delivered her first class to the group in September and is looking forward to getting to know the children more over the coming months. The sessions focus on developing speech and language skills as well as gross and fine motor skills through the use of songs, props and games. The classes are high energy and lots of fun and give parents the chance to play alongside their child whilst helping them learn and progress. Isobel said “It was great to see the smiles on the children’s faces and watch the children and parents engage in the session together.”
