Man pleads guilty to racially abusing woman in Harlow Town Centre

A MAN has pleaded guilty to a series of offences following an investigation into claims a woman had been subjected to racial abuse in Harlow.

Officers had been made aware of a video officers had been made aware which reportedly showed a woman being racially abused in the Terminus Street area.

Jake Hamill, 20, of Peterswood, Harlow, was arrested on Tuesday morning and later charged with four counts of assault by beating, two counts of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, six counts of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words, or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress, and one count of stalking.

The charges relate to a number of incidents between 21 January and 18 May this year.

Appearing before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court via video link yesterday (Wednesday 20 May) he pleaded guilty to all charges.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on 8 June.
